Singapore had just banned poultry import from malaysia due to H5N1 avian flu in kelantan. and i had chicken in all my meals today : chicken chop, chicken rice and the chicken wings in my packed economic rice. While i believe that the poultry products here in Singapore are safe for consumption, and tt those imports from Malaysia are relative safe, i m fully in support of the Singapore's decision to impose a ban on these poultry products. Some Malaysians , as reported in The New Paper felt that Singaporeans are overly kiasu. But please be reminded that this strand of H5 or H5N1 avian flu virus has killed 27 in Vietnam and Thailand, and that those unfortunate people r mostly village dwellers who lived in a sparsely distributed area. Remember SARS? In Singapore, if one of the 4 millon population is struck down with the avian flu and not quarantined in time.. this virus will be spreading like a wild virus. Meanwhile gotta keep my body in good health condition. Been getting this dryness in my throat for the past one week. Especially after walking in the rain for over 30 mins today trying to find Yishun South CC near Khatib MRT station.. -immune system shutting off- Of course after a late night sleep last night to watch Zhang Xueling and Li Jiawei playing in their respective quarter final.. i need more rest.
Singapore's only potential medal hope now lies in Li Jiawei after she swept past Wang Nan yesterday. Domineering performance by the China-born Singaporean. She took Wang Nan out of the game effectively.. but somehow Wang Nan always delay Li Jiawei's gamepoint by a few balls in all the rounds. Like the first 2 games.. Singapore was leading 10-4 for both n then Wang Nan got 3 straight points b4 Li wrapping up the games. Will be anticipating the semis.. i seriously hope Li Jiawei can bring back a medal and a glimmer of hope for all young SG sports athletes who dream big.. to bring back the hope that Singapore can achieve.
